Reliance Jio services went live on Thursday, 1st September 2016. Chairman and Managing Director of parent company Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), Mukesh Ambani announced the tariff plans while officially launching Jio.
Benefits to customers
Also touted as the world’s cheapest data provider, Reliance Jio has completely eliminated the cost of voice calls. It has made lifetime voice calling free, in addition to pricing data at rates like 1GB/Rs. 50. This is not only helping Jio gain popularity but also praise in terms of its role in the digitization of India.
As Jio continues to focus mainly on the youth of India, the company is offering 25% extra data to students on the purchase of data plans.
Tariff plans
The world’s largest start-up allows users to select from ten of its data packages which range from small to XXX-Large. Valid for a period of 28 days, these plans will allow individuals to thoroughly enjoy premium Jio applications like JioOnDemand, JioBeats, JioPlay, and JioMags. The biggest plan, XXXL entails 75GB data and is priced at Rs. 4,999.
Purchasing Jio SIM cards
Interested individuals may visit their nearest Reliance flagship store like Digital Xpress or Reliance Digital. They would have to carry and submit the required documents which would include identity proof, address proof, and a photograph. However, once the e-KYC facility is rolled out over the next two months, individuals will be able to enter a store and walk out with Jio SIM cards in 15 minutes. The e-KYC service would also eliminate the need to submit physical documents, replacing these proofs with a valid Aadhar card.
Reliance Jio services
The superior speed and affordable rates are two factors driving the popularity of Reliance Jio. The tariffs are approximately 1/10th that of other Indian telecom players, which is helping Jio carve a name for itself in the market. The 4G data is supported by high speeds which further boosts its competitive edge.
LYF smart phones
Jio services are complemented by its range of smart devices ranging from JioFi devices to the extensive list of LYF smart phones. While a JioFi device now costs Rs. 1,999, the starting price of LYF smart phones is Rs. 2,999. LYF includes four sub-categories namely FLAME, WIND, EARTH, and WATER. The FLAME series is the most pocket-friendly and allows individuals to experience 4G LTE features at only Rs. 2,999. On the other hand, LYF EARTH 2 is the brand’s most premium smart phone and retails at Rs. 19,999.
In addition to these smart phone models, several manufacturers also have tie-ups with Jio, thereby allowing their customers to avail of the Jio Preview offer. This preview offer is applicable to select smart phone devices falling under brands like LG, Samsung, Karbonn, Lava, HTC, Intex, and Videocon. The offer allows individuals to access unlimited data, voice, and messaging services for free along a period of 90 days.
