Jio plans and packages

The pricing strategy of Jio focuses mainly on three factors; encouraging individuals to either pay for voice or data, affordability, and convenient tariff plans.

The cheapest in the world, Reliance Jio’s data prices vary depending on which one of the ten plans is selected. Priced at Rs. 5/MB, users may enjoy 1GB for a nominal price of Rs. 50. While voice calls are completely free, data packs range from small to XXXL depending on the amount of data and number of messages required.

Chairman speaks

In order to elaborate his company’s focus on the youth, Mukesh Ambani spoke about how the presence of his twin children, Akash and Isha, both of whom are hands-on directors at Jio, has greatly benefitted the company in terms of customizing the services to meet demands of the current generation.

While addressing the 39th AGM, Mr. Ambani stated that the average age of employees at Reliance Jio is just 30 years. Also known as the world’s largest start-up, Jio has employed 60,000 employees spread across the country for the telecom venture. He attributes the keen interest in Jio and the high demand for its services to the support received from the youth in India. He also commended the never say die spirit of the youth, which is reflected through the high number of young professionals employed in the company.

Future plans

Mukesh Ambani also shed light on the challenge he had issued, asking Jio to garner a subscriber base of 100 million which it successfully did. The company is expecting the 100-million-strong customer base to use up to 250 crore GB monthly in terms of data. Jio is also connecting 30,000 educational institutes of India to Wi-Fi services which will allow students to access wireless data from their classrooms.

Their special focus on the youth is reflected in the 25% extra data facility offered to students. The company strongly believes that empowering the youth and allowing them to access information easily is the only way to ensure India achieves its vision of being fully digital. The current global market scenario is highly competitive and access to superior yet affordable digital services will allow Indians to hone their skills for the same.

Jio also has plans of venturing into the start-up market with the help of its Rs. 5,000 crore venture fund. To be invested over a period spanning five years, Jio intends on encouraging young entrepreneurs to contribute to the digital revolution.
